Fun toy for kids, but doesn't last very long

Update: after less than a week's worth of use, the steering stopped working on my son's car. It just twitches a little now instead of turning all the way over.

My kids got the red and pink versions of this car for Christmas. They are having lots of fun with them, and I appreciate that each car comes with two batteries (and two chargers!) because each battery only lasts about 10 minutes.

I also like that the controllers are set to not interfere with each other right out of the box, and have little pink and red stickers on them so that you can match them to the car.

I was disappointed to learn that the controller was not "analog" - the steering options are maximum left, straight, or maximum right - there's no way to do a slight turn to the left or right. Similarly, the trigger is just full-speed forwards or backwards.

Also, the battery chargers have a red light on that lights up initially and then goes dark once the battery is fully charged. I thought this would mean that it was no longer charging the battery, but I left one plugged in overnight and the next morning the battery was very warm, which makes me think that it was continuing to charge even after it was full. This is a waste of electricity at best, but it also feels like it could potentially be worse.

I was initially annoyed that the battery compartment had to be screwed and unscrewed to open, since you have to do this 3 times for each 20 minutes of play. However, after watching the way my kids crash their cars into things, I think the screw is probably a good idea. (There is also a clip, so you could theoretically leave it unscrewed and just rely on the clip. But I wouldn't.)

Lastly, the "All Terrains" in the title is not very accurate. Once they leave our driveway and enter the grass, they get stuck fairly quickly.

Oh, and just an FYI, you need to supply three AAA batteries for each remote.
