I love this thing. It's definitely a "toy" but it's a lot of fun, and while it does seem to break pretty easily, I've been able to repair it every time, from wires getting ripped out to blades getting broken. (It comes with a few extra blades, but you'll want to buy more if you plan on doing a lot of flying - these ones are working well for me. )
Once I crashed it into the top of a tree so hard that the battery fell out. I recovered the battery on the ground but couldn't even see where the copter was. That night it rained pretty hard, and the next day my copter was laying on the ground. I left it in a bag of epson salts for a week to dry out and it flew perfectly after that.
You'll also want some extra batteries. I'm using the beefier 500mAh batteries because they get almost twice as much air time - they do make it a bit less "zippy" but I find that it's actually easier to fly that way. If you want to do flips and such, though, stick to the smaller batteries.
One last thought: if you've never flown a copter before, buy a guard and practice inside first. A friend of mine got one of these and went out in a field to fly it for the first time and never saw it again :(
