This Princess Kills Monsters delivers.
It feels hard to know if it lived up to The Princess Bride and Shrek because those movies are ones I absolutely adore and both have a unique and special place in my heart.
If you are down for reading a book in which modern ideas about gender role and family structures are mixed and shuffled into some retellings of classic fairy tale stories, I think you’ll enjoy this read. I would love to see this book done adapted the big screen but only if done well.
It also felt like it took me a minute to get into the way this particular author wrote the story and voiced the main character, but by about 30% in I was ready to finish the book and not bale.
