It took me nearly 10 years to recognize that part of what led me to leave the church was ableism. I got tired of having to tell people about my celiac diagnosis and having to follow a medically necessary strictly gluten free diet.
Something shifted in me listening to Amy’s words about Jacob in particular. When my language was regularly policed because I “claimed my disease and not my healing” 🙄 I never felt able to express myself when it came to actually living my faith in my disabled body.
I think there is a lot here people could learn from.
