I’m a sobbing mess. I was not prepared.
This story had its crawls in me from page one.
Emma, keeps reliving the anniversary of the day she met her husband, Dan, and they mark the day by writing letters to each other.
When the book begins Emma is wrapped up in all the things grabbing at/demanding her attention (mostly via her cell phone), but as she continues reliving the same day over and over she learns what can and cannot be changed and what seems most worth the effort it takes to have it change.
As Emma continues to relive the same day again and again we get glimpses, mostly from Dan’s letters to Emma on the anniversary over the years, of all they have weathered together as a couple to get where there are now but you also catch glimpses of the love that has gotten them through.
It’s a beautiful story about living in our age of distraction and being reminded of what really matters and that we are none of us guaranteed more than the moment we have right now.
