I adored listening to Kate tell me her story. As someone who lost her first pregnancy, then watched my own mother get sick with cancer and die while also being saddled with my own autoimmune diagnosis. I felt understood for the first time in a long time especially when she talked about the glimpse of God that she got when her diagnosis came. I remember having much the same feeling when I was in the ER because my miscarriage was complicated. I no longer feel crazy for wanting to turn and run from the church I was raised in.
