The Sun Does Shine: How I Found Life and Freedom on Death Row

After reading The New Jim Crow and getting involved with EJI and the Innocent Project I am not ignorant of the current state of America’s criminal justice system. If I’m honest I had not yet truly considered my stance on the death penalty. To sit down and struggle with the value of human life and how we have demoted people who have been convicted of a crime to an under-caste is disheartening but what I found amazing is that while this book is galvanizing it does not leave you hopeless or in despair it reminds you of why the fight must continue this hard and difficult battle.
